Nations Before They Are Born

And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; Genesis 25:23

Two manner of people indeed. Esau became the cursed Edom, but Jacob became Israel.

If one were to go into the office of a travel agent and ask for a tour of Edom, I wonder what he would say? I suppose he could arrange a tour through the wastelands that once were Edom. We're speaking of the region around the Dead Sea, but the nation of Edom, Esau's people, is long gone.

Chuck Missler says that the Edomites are the most cursed people in the Bible. So why did they turn out that way? Did they make a lot of wrong decisions?

It is very common today to speak of people using their free will in the wrong manner. But let me say that their fate was predetermined before they were born.

In come the free will people to say that God foresaw how they would use their free will for evil. I would ask then, did Esau use his free will to be born red and hairy? For his physical characteristics are used in Genesis forward to symbolize earthly man, in contrast to man who is open to God.

"Well, this is all a myth," some will say. As if babies can become entire nations and yet be types arising from real people.

The Palestinians believe that Israel is composed of literal people. Jacob's people, no matter what they do, just won't go away, and they never will.

Two nations began with Rebekah.
