Going to Heaven With Jesus

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:17

There is a common belief that when we die our "immortal souls" go to heaven by themselves. Some believe these souls are accompanied by angels. The time of the journey is often given as 15 minutes. The scriptures present another picture.

Some day Jesus will return and both the resurrected dead and those living at the time will be caught up to meet Him in the air. This is the Bible's way of telling us that we will all go to heaven together, led by Jesus and accompanied by angels.

When this scriptural proof is presented, the reply is, "That is just our bodies." This answer, to me, is part of the Devil's doctrine that we do not die. Present, natural immortality is an extremely important part of the doctrine of being gods.

Paul says we must put on immortality: For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. (1 Corinthians 15:53). This will take place at the resurrection.

The pagan idea of separate immortal souls makes the resurrection a mere second stage in going to heaven. First your souls go there, then later Jesus returns to pick up your bodies. So, they say, in contradiction of the creation account, we're really two entities, with the soul being the most important part.

Better quit now, or this old man will get a "splitting" headache.
