Gabriel the Messenger Angel, and Michael the Warrior Angel

But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Daniel 10:13

And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. Daniel 8:16

These two verses in the book of Daniel introduce us to both Gabriel and Michael and their respective roles. And such marvelous things they do! I could go on and on about these angels and their angelic ministries.

Their tasks are continued in the New Testament. Gabriel as messenger to Mary in the first chapter of Luke, and Michael as the successful warrior against Satan's angels in Revelation chapter twelve.

We see in Daniel the pattern that will be continued later on. We see that God acts through his angels, that they are His intermediaries. But it is God that gives them their tasks.

It is in Daniel that we learn of the wars in the second heaven that determine the course of nations and empires. Nowhere in the Bible can we see more clearly the Satanic angels that rule over the nations. Our governments are determined in the second heaven, not in the voting booth.

God's elect are guided in their understanding by Gabriel, but coming to his aid is God's great warrior, Michael.
