Why Eutychus Passed Out

And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. Acts 20:9

This story in Acts 20 can be looked at in different ways. Some say it was a miraculous resurrection, others, just a young man fainting, and then recovering. I find that it tells a lot of an early church meeting.

The young man was not in a church building, but perhaps, because of crowding, seated in a window. Wouldn't you love to know what was being said at that meeting?

This was not an early Sunday morning, but at night, for lights were lit. Certainly, for the citizens of that time, there was no time off from work to go to church. It was an evening get together, probably after supper, when people were free to meet.

How important was such a little gathering? Very important, because Paul was there. How important was Eutychus? He got written up in the Bible.

If you ever feel insignificant, think of Eutychus. God sees the sparrow fall, and He saw him too.
